Vega Sport Sugar-Free Energizer

Vega recently sent me some Vega Sport sugar-free Energizer.  I’m a huge fan of Vega products, so of course I was ready to try it and share my review!

The sugar-free Sport Energizer is a part of the {PREPARE} in the .  Directly from their website, Vega describes the PREPARE line as: “Designed to take your workout to the next level by significantly enhancing physical and mental performance.”

According to the Vega website: “Vega Sport Sugar-Free Energizer contains ten synergistic ingredients help you focus and boost energy so you can power through your yoga class or lower intensity exercise—all with only 5 calories.  Use Vega Sport Sugar-Free Energizer to: enhance mental focus, Increase energy, and boost endurance.”

Each box contains 30 single serving packets (.12 oz each)

These little 5 calorie packets are sweetened with stevia and contain 10 plant-based performance-enhancing ingredients like green tea, yerba mate, coconut oil and rhodiola, and ginseng.  Here’s a little more information on the ingredients:

Vega advises that you mix the powder with 8 fl oz of cold water 20 minutes prior to low intensity exercise.  If you are feeling creative, I imagine this powder mix would work in a smoothie combination as well.

The Sport sugar-free Energizer comes in two flavors, Lemon Lime and Acai Berry.  I was lucky enough to be able to try both!  I thought I might like the acai berry flavor better, so I tried that one first.  Come to find out later on, I definitely prefer the lemon lime.

In order to share the best review possible, I decided that I needed to try the sugar-free energizer prior to a variety of athletic activities, including: swimming, biking, and running.  I even found myself filling my water bottle with it for work.

The first time I tried the Vega sugar-free energizer, I drank it 20 minutes or so before a run.  On the run, my stomach felt heavy.  I’m not a big one to drink a ton prior to a run and my full stomach quickly reminded me why.  I did try sipping it an hour or so prior to another run workout and this helped alleviate the full stomach feeling.  This conclusion was similar for the swim and bike.  I much prefer to the sip the drink over time rather than consume it all at once in a short time period.

Overall, Vega’s sugar-free energizer gave me a nice subtle increase in energy.  It does not work like caffeine or coffee, which offer a rush of energy.  I also noticed it didn’t cause headaches, jitters, etc later on.  I’m not a coffee drinker, so this drink is a great energizer option for me.

I decided to also try the sugar-free energizer while working.  No athletic activity involved there, but I certainly use a decent amount of energy working with young kiddos.  Again, a nice subtle increase in energy and even seemed to help decrease my appetite some.

My final conclusions?

PROS:

Plant-based, soy-free, gluten-free, dairy-free

Offers enhanced energy without the crash

Only 5 calories

Easy to carry packets

CONS:

Color/Look of drink

Haha – I love that you listed color as a con! :) Not very pretty, I agree, I guess that why there’s so much “natural color” added to many sports drinks. I’m a big fan of this drink too!

Haha, I also agree that the color is not very appealing! I’m glad you liked it, I would probably not be able to drink it too close to activity either.

I have been looking into Vega, but it is a little pricey for me to buy and sample and try. I didn’t realize they had a sugar free version, that is harder to find in these drink mixes and makes me happy. I’d ideally want to try the ones you tried, but again – I’d have to find really hunt for a few samples because buying a box and not livking it is too expensive.
