Recovery Week

Ah, recovery week, we meet again.

Okay well, we are about to say goodbye again in two days, but our time together this week has been lovely.

First order of business this past week was to invest in one of these.  It’s a Napsack and it’s amazing.  My husband and I LOVE camping.  This will be a huge part of our future adventures.  In the meantime, Bailey is breaking it in for me and showing me how he handles recovery weeks.


Then I randomly had a lucky streak happen…

I also hit every green light on my way to work that day.  Naturally, the next logic step would be to play the lotto.  Unfortunately, hunger still strikes big time during recovery weeks and distracted me from stopping at the gas station.  Ah, well.  Maybe next lucky streak…

As a part of program through work, each week, we tour other work places in our local area.  This week was a huge dairy farm.  Can you believe they have all of these cows?!  It was an interesting tour, but I left not being able to eat or drink anything dairy for days.  No worries, I’m back at it.  I love cottage cheese too much.


I do actually have scheduled workouts during recovery weeks, despite my pictures showing otherwise.  One of the days for example, called for an hour trainer ride and 30 minute recovery run.

Had to get it all done before work because I had a bike tune-up and fitting in the afternoon.  The nice part is that it was all free!  Bike purchase=free tune-up/fittings for a year.  Something associated with triathlons free?  Rare, I know.


I’ve also had some nice swims and runs this week.

Tomorrow, I will finish off the recovery with an easy 30 minute recovery ride on the trainer.

I have come to really enjoy my recovery weeks (and extra free time), but come Monday mornings the following week , I’m ready to get back to work.

    I’m training for the Great Wall Marathon and for several triathlons after that this season. After spending five out of the last twelve months not running due to an injury, I’m just glad to be running!! But training is going well!! I love recovery weeks too….the extra time is killer!! I *almost* don’t know what to do with myself. Keep up the good work!! :)

  2. I’m just getting back into running after an injury so training is slowly starting to ramp up. I also came down with a crappy sickness this weekend so I’ve been taking it easy! Oh well! :)
